Women’s History Month As Working Moms

Also, something new is coming SOON...more inside!

The Carry All

Edition #216 | Read time: 5 Minutes

Hi Mamas -

Spoiler Alert: Don’t skip this intro. It has some exciting news we’ve been eager to share with you…

But first…Happy Women’s History Month to some of the most incredible women we know.

To the women building careers and packing lunches. Leading meetings and bedtime routines. Carrying ambition, responsibility, and approximately 47 tabs open in their brains at all times.

Working moms are doing important work in more ways than one, and this month feels like a good moment to say we see you.

It also feels like a good moment to share that something new is coming soon!

Over the years, like Hillary’s quote above, you’ve told us what you want more of. Not just content, but connection. More conversation, more community, and more ways to interact with each other so you don’t feel like you’re navigating working motherhood on an island.

So we’ve been building something with that in mind and will be moving to Substack.

The good news? You don’t have to do anything. As long as you’re subscribed to The Carry All, it will continue to come straight to your inbox when we switch to our new platform.

The best part? We’ll be able to offer even more features and opportunities to connect, share, and engage with each other.

We’ll guide you through everything when the time comes, but we wanted to give you a heads up that it’s coming in April.

As we put the final touches on everything, we want to make sure we hear from you. The polls over the next few weeks will be really helpful ways for you to share your thoughts, and it would mean so much if you participated.

After all, this space has always been shaped by and for the women in it.

Enjoy!

THE BIG 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣

1️⃣ 💛 The Women Who Came Before Us

What do Indra Nooyi (former PepsiCo CEO), Sara Blakely (founder of Spanx), and Kendra Scott (founder of Kendra Scott) have in common?

They all built billion-dollar brands while raising families.

They didn’t choose between leadership and motherhood. They redefined both. These women set boundaries, embraced flexibility, and proved that being a parent is not a weakness in leadership. If anything, it’s a strength.

Their stories remind us that we don’t have to fit outdated expectations of what leadership should look like. We can lead on our own terms.

Looking for a little inspiration from women who have walked the walk? This month, check out a podcast or pick up a book by a woman with a powerful story in honor of the women who came before us.

2️⃣  💼 The Women Beside Us

Today in the workplace, the data is clear. We need women leading. YOU make exceptional leaders and that is not just in theory.

Studies show that women-led companies outperform their male-led counterparts, and investors like Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary have said some of their highest returns come from female founders and moms.

Why? Because many of the skills great leaders need are strengthened through motherhood. Multitasking. Emotional intelligence. Resilience. Adaptability. The ability to make decisions quickly with limited information.

So let’s stop questioning whether women, and mothers, belong at the top. They do. And many of them are already sitting beside us.

3️⃣  🌱 The Women Coming Up Behind Us

We all know that leadership skills learned early can make a big difference later. So how can we help our teens start building them now? Things like visionary thinking, resilience, and empathy go a long way.

Do you have a daughter or a young woman you mentor? Even small conversations and encouragement can help shape the leaders they’re becoming.

Want to take it a step further? Programs like the G.I.R.L.S. Leadership Program help girls build confidence, explore STEM, set goals, and take care of their health. For boys, the Driven Foundation focuses on leadership, academics, and self-esteem.

🎙️ ON THE PODCAST

In honor of Women’s History Month, Paula is covering all things women on The Paula Faris Show. From what we face inside ourselves—yes, we’re going there talking therapy, GLP-1s, and more—to life with others, friendships, and what it really means to be equal partners. It’s all about the messy, real, and important stuff that shapes how we show up for ourselves and the people we care about as women.
