When Burnout Is On The Brink
Real help for seasons when you can’t just quit.

Edition #214 | Read time: 5 Minutes
Hi Mamas -
With 2026 in full swing, it’s back to the daily grind with no long weekends in sight. (Why does Memorial Day always feel so far away?!)
This week we’re talking honestly about BURNOUT: how to prevent it, how to cope when quitting isn’t an option, and what it looks like to keep showing up when you’re already running low.
If you are genuinely on the cusp of burnout, significant changes may eventually be needed. But we’re working moms too, and we get it. So often we cannot overhaul everything right away, no matter how desperately we want to.
We can’t change it all for you, but we hope we can help carry a little of the load this week. ❤️
Enjoy!

THE BIG 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣
1️⃣ Ditch burnout… or at least, minimize it 🙅🏾♀️
Let’s kick burnout to the curb in 2026 with this oldie, but goodie. CARRY™ friend, leadership coach and working mom, Jo Saxton, created this FREE resource to help you ditch burnout once and for all. It's a 6-minute video that’s full of so much goodness.
2️⃣ 💡 How to Cope if Quitting Isn’t an Option
When quitting isn’t an option, when the job still needs you, the kids still need you, and the calendar is not slowing down, what do you do?
Burnout feeds on the pressure to be everything to everyone, so instead of spiraling, try the 3 Cs:
Curiosity: Ask what is actually draining you and what small shift could make this week five percent lighter?
Connection: Isolation makes everything heavier So send the text, take the walk, linger a few extra minutes at bedtime
Completion: Finish one small, concrete task to remind yourself you are not drowning.
This is not about pushing harder to make it through. It is about navigating a full season wisely and remembering that burnout is not proof you are failing. It is often proof you have been carrying a lot for a long time.
💭 Often we can’t overhaul our entire list of needs overnight, but what’s one small 5% shift you can make this week to lighten your load?
3️⃣ 🧖🏽♀️ Quick Fixes to Recharge
Okay, listen—we’re not usually advocates for the “quick fix.” But sometimes, instead of waiting for the perfect “all or nothing” moment, it’s more doable to go with “all or something.” Our founder, Paula, says that what helps her most in avoiding burnout is saying YES to something that brings her utter joy.
As working moms, it’s easy to get so maxed out we cut out all the joy in our lives. What could saying YES look like for you? Only you can answer that—but here are a few favorites if you need some ideas:
Heating pad for a sore back (or cramps!)
Face and neck massager
15-Minute Pamper Kit
A 30 minute drive with no kids. Just your favorite music singing at the top of our lungs.
A fun exercise class you never thought you’d take— like Trapeze Yoga.
Learning to play an instrument, writing or reading
Sometimes it’s the small, joyful moments that keep carrying us in the meanwhile ❤️
📰 IN THE NEWS
🥇 A Mother’s First Olympic Title at 41

In bobsled, Elana Meyers Taylor, a 41‑year‑old mom of two, made history by winning her first Olympic gold medal in the monobob event. After years of silvers and bronzes while balancing family life, including raising children with special needs, her victory was both emotional and triumphant.
One of our favorite moments was watching her thank the village that helped her along the way, including her nannies. When working moms win, it is usually a whole team that got them there, and we loved seeing that support in action. ❤️
Last week’s poll results: We asked “if you’re watching the Olympics, which event are you enjoying the most? 🥇❄️
Over 80% of you voted for figure skating, skiing, or snowboarding as your favorite events so far! ⛸️⛷️🏂
Here are a few things you had to say:
➡️ “I love them all. We are watching whatever we can find on the tv! Go USA!”
➡️ “Watching the snowboarding makes me wish I could go back in time and be adventurous.”
➡️ “Takes me right back to being a pre-teen in the 90s!”
➡️ “I love the pair skating. They are so talented! I love the emotion of it all! Oh, and I watched monobob for the first time and saw Elana Meyers Taylor win gold. So inspiring!!!”
