Edition #124 | Read time: 5 Minutes

Hi mamas-

As summer heats up, it's time to refresh, recharge, and reimagine those little moments that make motherhood so special. (They totally exist, we swear.)

We all know that Mom Guilt can sneak up on us, but what if we told you there's a way to turn those fleeting minutes into powerful connections with your kids? And the best part?

It takes WAY LESS time than you think. (music to your ears, right?)

If you’re looking for ways to celebrate the joy of small yet significant moments — whether your kids are toddling from room to room, or grabbing the car keys on their way out the door — keep reading as we talk about the 9-Minute Theory.

Here's to a summer filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of YOU time.

You are doing great, mama.

THE BIG 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣

1️⃣ 🥰 The 9-Minute Theory

It’s no surprise that Mom Guilt is alive and well in many of us. If you struggle with the lack of quality time with your kids, you might benefit from the 9-Minute Theory. Instead of focusing on how much time you don’t have with your kids, create special moments with them in 3-minute intervals. We do this 3 times per day: when they first wake up, when they get home from school, and before bedtime.

Creating these distraction-free moments can reinforce your bond with your kids, and can really help combat the mom guilt that we all inevitably feel from time to time. What do you think?

2️⃣ 😎 Summer GlowScreen

It’s 2024, which means that the days of applying baby oil or SPF 2 to get a deep tan (ahem, sun damage), are well behind us. But when we’re choosing which sunscreen to apply, the options can be overwhelming. Enter Supergoop! GlowScreen. This multi-tasking sunscreen packs SPF 40 but also doubles as a primer to make your skin dewy.

It also has hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5, AND niacinamide. Hello hydration and HOT MOM SUMMER!

3️⃣ 📖 Summer Reading Kindle Stand

The days are long. When you finally get the chance to get in bed and curl up with your favorite book, sometimes you just don’t want to hold the dang thing. That’s why we LOVE this Kindle Floor Stand! It’s compatible with most phones and tablets, and allows you to free your hands while you read. This is peak relaxation.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT 🤎

for working moms with older children
  • What rules do you think kids should follow in their own lives? We all know that “please” and “thank you” are important, but there are SO MANY unwritten rules that we all live by that it can be difficult to decide which ones are important to teach our children. We love this article, which stresses the importance of modeling the behavior we want to see in our kids. Some excellent rules to pass on? Don’t criticize food that someone else is eating, and put your phone away when someone is talking to you.

  • We all want to do right by our kids. And when they’re teenagers, there’s so much that we can do that feels awfully embarrassing to them. But there’s a fine line between not doing something outrageous that would be mortifying, and making ourselves small to avoid conflict. This article shines a light on the importance of embracing your fire 🔥

Last week’s poll results: Over 40% of you fall into the DIPS stage (Dual Income, Public School) — and POLKs (Parents of Little Kids) came in second. Keep reading for a few of your thoughts and comments!

➡️ “Can I be a SISPOLKIPD? Single Income, Single Parent Of Little Kid in a Private Daycare?”

➡️ “We're DIPS and POLKS with kids heading into 6th and 4th grade, as well as an almost 3-year-old. We've been blessed to have grandparents willing to watch our children throughout their lives when they weren't in school! I feel for all you families who have to spend a whole salary on daycare. That is ROUGH.”

➡️ “Dual income, private school, parent of little kids (4 kids age 3-9, 3 of them in private school) We were single income until thinking about tuition for kiddos 3 and 4...”

➡️ “Dual income, two kids under 3, one in daycare other soon to be. 😵‍💫
