Is Love Enough? ❤️
Keeping it real for Valentine's Day

Edition #160 | Read time: 5 Minutes

Hi mamas!
That's 👆🏻 a direct quote from one of our fave moms, @honestly.kaitlyn, who joins our founder, Paula, on her podcast this week to talk about dating as a single, working mom and how much pressure the mental load puts on relationships.
Since LOVE is in the air this week, we have great tips on how to keep things spicy with your partner if a date night out isn’t in the cards. And if you are single and ready to mingle, we found the best app for single parents.
As if dating after kids weren’t confusing enough, we also give you some ideas about how to handle your teens dating as well — because guess what? It’s just not the same as it was when we were younger! 😅
Enjoy!
This week in The CARRY™ ALL, we’re talking about:

THE BIG 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣
1️⃣ 🎙 Dating as a Single Mom - on the Podcast!
Did you know that 40% of Americans are single? Our founder, Paula Faris, sat down with Kaitlyn Niles (@honestly.kaitlyn) on her podcast, The Paula Faris Show, to get the nitty gritty on dating as a single mom. The two discussed it all – what it’s like dating as a single mom, why divorce was the best thing that happened to her….and the plot twist that not even she saw coming. Don’t miss this episode!
2️⃣ 🖥️ The Best Dating Apps for Single Parents
Let’s face it – heading to “da club” to find your soulmate is not totally an option once you’ve lived real life and now have kids, a career, and a boatload of responsibilities. So how are busy single moms supposed to find love in this day and age? The good news is that you might have some helpful friends surrounding you who are ready to set you up with their neighbor’s cousin. But a better bet? Embrace the digital age. These are some of the best sites for single parent dating. The most popular? Stir. Let us know if you’ve enjoyed any of these sites in your search for love!
3️⃣ ❤️ At-Home Valentine’s Day Ideas
No matter what people might say, you can still live it up on Valentine’s Day with your spouse. And while a busy work schedule and kids activities might cramp your style a tad, there are still ways to celebrate this Hallmark holiday and make it count without going out to a fancy dinner or indulging in expensive gifts to show your loved one that they’re still your main squeeze. We love these at-home Valentine’s Day ideas that can make a “date” out of almost anything. Our favorite? Themed dinner nights and movie marathons.
BEEN THERE, DONE THAT 🤎
for working moms with older children
Whether you’re on the dating scene again as a newly single parent, or you’re happily in love with your long-time partner, not much can prepare you for the time when your teen dips their toe into the dating pool. And since things have changed SO much since we dated as teenagers (goodbye answering machines, Hello Snapchat!), chances are you might not quite know how to handle the situation without alienating your kid. Check out this approach to being the “cool parent” when it comes to your kids dating. The key? Push for open and honest communication.
So you’re single and back on the dating scene. That’s great! But how are you supposed to manage your kids in the mix? Knowing what is best for your children when you’re out in the dating world again can be really tricky – especially when there’s no clear road map on what is best for everyone involved. If you’ve found someone special and want to introduce them to your kids, these tips might come in handy. One example? Put the wellbeing of your kids front and center.
Last week’s poll results: 64% of you use apps to make your lives easier! Keep reading for a few of your thoughts and comments!
➡️ “Online shopping (Etsy and Amazon), photos/camera, Class Dojo, Google suite, maps, calendar, clock, weather, Libby, Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Goodreads, Signal/Messages/Messenger, Trulia, The Lutheran Study Bible and Adventures in Odyssey! That’s my phone!”
➡️ “In addition to the options being overwhelming, I get really annoyed by apps consistently trying to push subscriptions or paid add-ons. The simpler apps are much preferred for me.”
➡️ “I use iCal and Reminders on my iPhone every single day. My calendar is color-coded by my schedule, work, kids' activities, my husband's schedule, workouts, even TV shows I don't want to miss. Reminders are for daily tasks, and I also use their smart list option for groceries. I also love Trello and Notion for project management.”
