If money talks…

Is Corporate America REALLY listening?

If money talks… we’re hoping the you-know-what will walk. Like far, far away.

Get this: Companies with 'fully flexible' work policies had a 21% industry-adjusted revenue growth rate over three years, compared to just 5% for those with more restrictive office attendance policies.

Why?

Gosh — we love what one of the analysts who worked on the report, Debbie Lovich, said in the article…

“If they’re less restrictive on [remote] work policies, they’re probably more pro-innovation, more purposeful and more engaging. I doubt those companies would be taking attendance and measuring badge swipes.”

If we’re talking dollars and cents — let’s talk simple equations, too:

Fully-flexible work policies = happy employees = productive employees = DOLLA DOLLA BILLS, Y’ALL 💰💰💰

(Are we oversimplifying it?)

Also, this week in The CARRY™ ALL:

  • 🎁Last minute teacher gift ideas

  • 💌 Letter to the mom patting herself on the back

  • 🏆Become a working mom’s employer of choice

  • 🤰 Shoutout to employers who see beyond the resume gap

1. For the LAST MINUTE teacher gift…🎁

We LOOOOOOOVE teachers. So we polled a bunch of our teacher mamas and asked them what they want for the holidays.

What they actually want: Gift cards (to Amazon, local nail salons or gas stations), extra school supplies (flair pens or whiteboard markers), anything on their Amazon Wish List, a bag of local coffee, and handwritten cards of appreciation.

What they'll pass on: Mugs, candles (unless it's a Bath & Body gift card), homemade treats.

2. Cue mom rage 😤

We’ve never felt so seen than we did when reading these words:

“It’s 5:32 pm. You’ve been up since… forever… and you’ve spent the entire day as a human comfort item while trying to find some peace among scattered toys, bottles, and laundry. Your little one has gone from content to hangry in 27 seconds, so you rush to feed them before the screaming gets worse. As you enter the kitchen, your pets get the wrong idea and start pestering you for their dinner. Your partner walks in and asks, ‘What’s for supper?’"

If you default to mom rage 😡 next, what you’re experiencing is a fun little sensation called sensory overload, and you’re definitely not alone. We loved this article with practical suggestions for ways to cope — even if it means waking up a few minutes earlier than the kids!

3. Make the Introduction

What if the organization YOU work for could become the type of employer that working moms LOVED working for?

We’re partnering with our friends over at SUPERKIN to launch CARRY™ Consulting in 2024 — our strategic consulting arm aimed at giving organizations a roadmap to being an “employer of choice” for working moms.

If your organization could stand to improve the culture, policies and benefits that impact working moms and you’d like for us to connect with someone in HR to get the ball rolling — add your email to this form and we’ll reach out.

Shoutout to those in the hiring process, like Bernie, that recognize the skills gained through motherhood — instead of focusing on any resume gaps.

If you are learning how to parent a tween or looking for your next adventure as an empty nester.. this is for you.

  • If you have a tween — can we talk about how NOT PREPARED we were for the change to our daughters’ Christmas lists? This Reel was way too accurate to us… and our wallets 💸💸💸

  • And if those tweens have turned into teenagers who have turned into young adults who’ve up and moved out of the house, maybe it’s time for your second act. This daughter celebrated the new empty nester mom, encouraging her to chase the dreams she had put on hold. We’re not crying, you are. 😭
