Edition 106

The Carry All

Edition #106 | Read time: 5 Minutes

Almost a quarter of us have turned down a promotion — presumably more pay AND more responsibility — because of our responsibilities at home.

And with some of us in states like South Carolina and others where there are more than three young children for every spot in a licensed child care center — it’s no wonder working moms are sometimes hesitant to take on more of ANYTHING when they’re childcare arrangement is so unpredictable.

Our founder, Paula, has been getting LOUD about the child care crisis— and her passion is fueling us to tell the stories of as many moms as possible, especially those of you who’ve been impacted.

If your ability to accept a promotion, a job, or work has been impacted by the child care crisis — we want to tell your story.

Click here to share your story with us — so we can share it with our community of over 50k working moms!

This week in The CARRY™ ALL:

  •  How to ask for letters of recommendation

  • 👐🏾 A gesture of solidarity to all the mothers who simply need to vent

  • A message for the mom who is earning her promotion 💌

THE BIG 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣

1️⃣ ⭐ You Have Our Recommendation

Take this as your sign: It’s time to go for that promotion. Whether it’s your internal organization or you’re moving on — we’re cheering you on! And when you need that letter of recommendation? Don’t shy away from the ask.

We loved these tips for who and how you ask.

Our favorite tip is not simply asking for a recommendation but asking, "Do you feel you know my work well enough to write me a good recommendation letter?" or "Do you feel you could give me a good reference?"

2️⃣ Let’s Promote Generosity

Let’s be honest, we could all stand to see a little more generosity in this world. But we all know it starts at home. So, if you want to teach your kids to see a need and know how to do something about, Serving Made Simple is our FAVORITE resource. This guide does ALL the heavy lifting for busy working moms, regardless of your time, availability and budget.

3️⃣ 👭🏽Work Besties

Want to be work besties? If you’re looking for other working moms who just “get it,” — moms who may also be vying for their own big promotion or figuring out how to juggle even MORE responsibility at work and home —  join our community!

We created CARRY™ Moms, a private Facebook community– for this very reason– so you can connect with other moms who just get it.

We’re almost 600 deep — and we’d LOVE to welcome you in!

LET’S CELEBRATE 🎉

Shoutout to companies like Bobbie that saw a need for their working parents and changed their policy! This is how it’s done! 👏🏽👏🏽

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT 🤎

If you are on the fence about getting your kid a phone or want a good laugh about today's generational gaps, this is for you.
  • If you’ve been agonizing over getting your child a phone or smartwatch… this viral video from a mom who happens to be a cop may help with your decision. If you ask FitCopMom the pros definitely outweigh the cons—especially because she says there are more kid-friendly phones on the market.

  • That type of decision likely wasn’t even on the radar for most of our parents’, right? If you are wondering what else has changed… this hilarious reel highlights some of the biggest disparities including how Millennials ☎️  and Gen Zers 📱 “pick up the phone”.
